About Our Clinic

My name is Jouanna and my interest in midwifery began in my childhood when I witnessed my mother giving birth to my siblings at home. Coming from a family of 6 children, I have seen the beauty and importance of pregnancy and childbirth in my own life and felt so deeply in love with it. Therefore I tried to pursue my passion and decided at a young age that I wanted to become a midwife. I passed the National Iranian Exam at the age of 18, and was accepted Kurdistan University of Medical Science, and completed a bachelor’s degree in 2002.

I came to midwifery with a commitment to working with women from all parts of society. I started working in a remote rural health center, providing primary care to families with low socioeconomic status for 2 years. In 2004, I started working in Milad Hospital in Tehran that belongs to a welfare organization. It is worth mentioning Milad Hospital is the most well-known and biggest hospital in the Middle East to which all complicated cases are referred.

In January of 2018, I was accepted to Internationally Educated Midwifery Bridging Program at UBC and moved to Vancouver. For my clinical placement, I had the privilege of working at Burnaby Midwifery Care and New Horizon Midwifery and then joined these clinics in January 2019. I feel very privileged to be a midwife and have the ability to serve clients in English, Farsi, and Kurdish. I believe that pregnancy and birth are engraved in women’s body and after many years of supporting women and their families as they give birth, I still feel inspired by the mother‘s strength and feel excited to witness every baby’s first breath.

My name is Negar, and I am thrilled to join Metrotown Midwifery Care as a Registered Midwife. After completing a comprehensive four-year Midwifery Education Program at the University of British Columbia, I am eager to bring my expertise and passion for midwifery to our community.
My interest in midwifery was sparked in my childhood in Northern Iran, watching my mother provide dedicated care to pregnant individuals and their families. This early exposure to the impact of midwifery on families’ lives inspired me to pursue this fulfilling career. Throughout my education and clinical placements, I have been privileged to support many families through the beautiful and transformative experiences of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. These experiences have deepened my commitment to providing holistic, personalized, and informed care.
As an immigrant, I deeply value the diversity and inclusiveness found in our community. I am committed to creating a welcoming and safe environment for all families, leveraging my fluency in English and Farsi to ensure that newcomers receive supportive and culturally sensitive care.
In my personal time, I enjoy being with my family and friends.
